Carlen Davis of Meriden has been sentenced to 188 months in prison, followed by 15 years of supervised release, for sex trafficking the three teenage girls and for violating the conditions of his supervised release from a prior federal conviction.

In 2015 and 2016, Davis recruited, harbored and transported three girls - who were 14, 15 and 16 years old at the time - to engage in commercial sex acts.

Davis used the website Backpage to advertise the minors’ services and he transported the girls to various hotels in Meriden, Milford and Hamden, where they acted as prostitutes.

Davis was arrested on Dec. 9 on related state charges and has been detained since. On Aug. 17 last year, he pleaded guilty in federal court to one count of sex trafficking a minor.

His first conviction came in September 2006, for distributing crack cocaine.

He was sentenced to 150 months in prison, followed by five years of supervised release. He was released from prison in June 2014.
